Plot Seeders
P J Green custom build Plot Seeders to suit your requirements.
Research and development to improve grain production is an ongoing quest. Farming groups, government departments, and private companies are in the race to improve seed varieties for the future.
To meet the needs of these researchers, P J Green has designed a new range of plot/cone seeders.
These P J Green seeders are custom-built to meet the specifications required by plant breeders. They can handle a range of seed varieties – from carrot seeds to beans – and work at sowing rates from 0.5 kg/ha up to more than 300 kg/ha.
The seeders are available in both three-point linkage and trailing versions and they can be specified with different sowing widths and tine spacings.
Ground tool combinations can also vary, depending on the conditions in which trials are to be conducted. Spring tines, hydraulic tines, disc openers and parallelogram systems are available.
Metering cones are available in 100-400 mm diameters. Single or multiple cones can be optioned. Multiple fertilizer tanks, granular or liquid can be fitted, with additional tanks to sow along perimeters or apply bait.
Gravity feed or air assist is used to convey seed to the ground tools. Air assist is standard on wider machines.
The cone tripping device is mechanical as standard or can be activated with electric-over-air. Automatic tripping options are also available. Plot lengths can be set to each individual breeder’s requirements.
When a sample of seed is tripped onto the cone, it evenly drops to the lower edge of the cone, from which it is conveyed to an outlet hose. The cone is electronically driven and will complete one revolution for the plot length, leaving no seed at the cone base.
This process is repeated at each plot with no carry over or contamination of seeds. Cones can be manually loaded or an air operated cassette system is available.
All P J Green plot cone seeders use the well-proven, full variable rate 12 volt electronic P J Green controller. The variable rate controller allows easy plot length adjustments. Each seed and fertiliser tank uses its own controller.
The work platform is designed with input from the customer to obtain a satisfactory work environment for the operator.
Plant breeders in all Australian states and territories are now using these P J Green seeders.
